Born in Hukou, Taiwan and raised in Vancouver, I'm fascinated by the thinking behind everything.
I'm also never happy with just one-side of the story, leading me to further my education in business after my second-year in design at Simon Fraser University. Turns out I quite enjoy the business strategy behind design, and briefly pursued a career in digital marketing before coming back to what I love best: being at the intersection of design & business, creating experiences that contributes to both customers & businesses.
Talk to me about consumer technology (I'm basically the Buyers' Guide for friends & family), badminton, 20th Century European History, or British quiz shows :)
Knack Academics is an educational centre tutoring children of high-profile clients based in West Vancouver. As its Business Manager, I've worked on a number of projects in business model development, overhead reduction, and process improvement. Under my tenture Knack Academics has seen a 30% increase in revenue, as well as becoming cashflow positive.
Hosted annually by Dossier Creative, Railyard Lab offers a unique internship experience. A group of select interns with backgrounds in business & design run their own design studio, with full control over real-world projects with clients in the social impact space. With a focus on Empathy in Design, the Dossier mentors were a crucial part in my role as Project Manager, Web Developer, Business Analyst & Designer.
A separate division of NCIX, NCIX PC designed & sold custom computers through B2C/B2B channels across North America. As the Product Marketing Manager I was responsible for product strategy and marketing development, working with industry partners in implementing marketing campaigns across multiple platforms. During my time I researched & worked with senior management in order to implement business decisions that resulted in NCIX PC being one of NCIX's top performing business units.
My foundational education in both user experience design & business, two senior design projects in particular sparked my interest at working in the intersection between design & business. While academic in nature, one of my team's projects earned a mentorship by Chelsea Garber of Inamoto & Co on a live brief with Toyota.
